Potato Onion Named Lines
What are Named Lines?
A Named Line is the ultimate output of the Potato Onion Resurrection breeding program and is a genetically distinct Potato Onion which has undergone a fairly rigorous selection and testing process. Each Named Line has characteristics which make it suitable for release to the public. Admittedly, until additional feedback is obtained from general use, some of the onions are in what could be considered Beta Test mode.

Ariel 3
A large yellow onion which produces clumps of three. It is known to store well and will readily set viable seed. As is consistent with the methodology of the breeding program, it has been observed to split in at least two consecutive years. A product of Cohort 25, it's formal name is Co25_Ariel_3 and it should be considered to be in Beta Test until more feedback is received. The image at left shows two clumps of Ariel 3 harvested in the autumn of 2026.
Juliet 7
